4th September 201
We had a lazy day starting out with a ferry ride across the river Lima from the campsite to explore the old city .

Alleyways of Viana do Castelo

Viano has it’s own version of Montemarte dominating the skyline, to get there involves either a drive, a 2km uphill hike or the tiny funicular railway, this easy option won the day.

The funicular

Monte Santa Luzia

Two foodie things that make this an enjoyable place to visit are the Vino Verdi white wines, said to be superior to the famous Douro valley stuff, the other is the seafood, after much searching of the alleyways in the Old Fishing quarter we stumbled across a local haunt called ‘OTaberno Petisqueira’ with a blackboard menu that was too big to photograph, we stumbled out much happier after a lively lunch.

That's what you call a blackboard menu and the picture only shows half of it.

  1. Hi Linda and Paul

Just been reading your blog, my heart went up in my mouth when I read your encounter with that stupid porches car and juggernaught. Take care want you both back in one piece.

    Love Ginnie
