Sat 7th September

Getting down from Monte Penha into the old city of Guimaraes was an easier journey than the previous day’s. There just happened to be a teleferique round the corner so no waiting for a bus, it was instant transportation into the city.

It was then an easy day walkabout of the alleyways and avenues of the old city.

Thanks to the Lonely Planet we took on their top choice of vegi restaurants for lunch at Flor de Tangerina.  http://cor-de-tangerina.blogspot.pt/ for some local creative cooking and a meal that turned out to be the best on our journey to date.

We tried a traditional dessert called ‘Touchinho do Ceu’ a local secret recipe known only by Clarina’s Pastelaria in Toural Square. For the foodies, all we can tell you is that it contains eggs, squash, sugar and almonds in pastry. After lunch we hot footed it to Clarina’s to stock up for the days ahead.

  1. Thank you very much for your visit!
I am pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay in Guimarães (Camping Park included, I am holding a quite rewarding satisfaction survey on my left hand) and even chose my own favourite restaurant as well (Cor-de-Tangerina).

I hope to see you again!

    Kind regards,
    Isabel Carvalho
